At Key Stage 3 Design and Technology covers lessons on a range of different areas, such as Electronics, Graphics, Resistant Materials and Cookery. As part of these lessons pupils get to work practically on the planning and creation of products and meals.
Pupils then have the option to continue studying Design Technology where they focus on Product Design in Key stage 4.
With this course pupils are to complete a non-exam assessment where they identify, investigate, analyse and outline design ideas and then make prototypes and evaluate their fitness for purpose.
Pupils also sit an exam at the end of Year 11 which is based around short, structured and extended writing questions.
