At Mary Immaculate pupil wellbeing is of significant importance to us and we have a number of services as well as ourselves who are able to work with our young people who may be vulnerable, grieving, struggling emotionally and socially which impacts them academically or just need somebody to talk to or more importantly be listened to.

The Bridge is our well-being hub where multi-agency meetings are held formally every 2 weeks to address referrals from staff via pastoral briefings and also addresses concerns from the wider community which may include health, family breakdown, loss and referrals from children’s services.

To ensure pupils are receiving the appropriate intervention for their need we use a variety of approaches through a triage system. Below are the services we work with throughout the year, meeting regularly to discuss pupils who need support and provide them with the person who will be able to support them the most:

  • Primary Mental Health Link

  • In-reach practitioners

  • School based counselling service

  • Therapeutic Practitioners – Music Therapist

  • The Baxter Project (Chewy the dog)

  • County based Emotional Health & Well-being Specialist

  • Mental Health First Aiders

  • School Nurse

  • Nyas

  • Children’s Services
