Pupil Drawing

Art is a key outlet for creativity and within Art at Mary Immaculate High School, students study a wide variety of topics and use a range of different and exciting materials. They focus on developing their drawing skills as well as learning new techniques that help to build a solid base of knowledge.

At Key Stage 4, pupils many select to study Art and Design as one of their GCSE options. As part of this choice pupils complete a Portfolio of work based on internally set themes and subject matter. This work is then selected, evaluated and presented for assessment by the pupil.

The second part of this qualification is the Externally Set Assignment in which pupils conduct a preparatory study period based on themes, visual stimuli and written briefs presented to them. Once this is complete, pupils have a 10 hour period of sustained focus work in which they complete and present their ideas.
